“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into smaller manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.” –Mark Twain, American Humorist and Author I came across this quote and it reminded me of a number of budding entrepreneurs I have worked with recently. They have good ideas. They have an idea of where they want to go. They have no idea how to get on a path to their destination.
Project management principles are key to the success of startup companies. If you know where you want to go, begin to look at the steps necessary to get you there. Take each step and break it down into its elements. As you go through this process you will identify new steps. Plug the new steps in and break those down, as well. This process will allow you to work on each easily manageable element and not feel overwhelmed.
This method sounds rather cliché, but if you work the process you will quickly move toward success with your startup while keeping your sanity.
